Third Confirmed COVID-19 Case in Val Verde County/City of Del Rio
(Press Release) Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) and Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) have confirmed a third case of COVID-19 in Val Verde County.
State confirmed cases in Val Verde County at a glance:
March 24, 2020- First confirmed case – international travel related
March 26, 2020- Second confirmed case – international travel related
The third reported case has been determined to be a community spread related case. We are in the process of obtaining additional details from the Texas Department of State Health Services and will share with the community as that information becomes available.
City, County and VVRMC officials continue to urge our community to help limit the spread of disease through proper hygiene practices:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home as much as possible, but especially if you are feeling sick.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Practice social distancing
- Follow the Declarations issued by the State and Local Officials
