2020 Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival Postponed

Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce issued a press release notifying the public that the 2020 Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival scheduled during March 20-28, 2020 has been postponed to a future date to be determined due to the Coronavirus Pandemic precautionary measures announced by the United States Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, State of Texas, and local governmental entities.
“The decision was arrived at with a heavy heart since this will be the first time a decision of this nature is made by the Chamber in the history of the event, which the Chamber instituted in 1962,” said the Chamber Press Release.
The decision was made to prioritize the “safety, health and welfare of the Eagle Pass/Maverick County community and its visitors as the Coronavirus outbreak continues to spread worldwide….the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors deemed it necessary and prudent to postpone its March 20th through March 28th annual International Friendship Festival (IFF) events until a later date in this year, pending announcement,” added the press release.
“Persons who have purchased pre-sale carnival coupons have two options: return the tickets to the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce before Friday, March 27, 2020, during regular Chamber hours (Monday-Friday from 9 A.M. through 5 P.M.) for a refund of what was paid or keep the pre-sale tickets in a safe place to use at the rescheduled date which will be later this year,” added the press release.
The annual Eagle Pass International Friendship Festival is extremely important to the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce as it is its largest fundraiser annually in order to meet part or all of its operating expenses. Stay tuned for a new date in the near future. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.
