Eagle Passans to Elect New Mayor and Two City Council Members on Saturday, February 1, 2020

A total of over 16,000 registered voters living in the City of Eagle Pass, Texas will have a historic opportunity on Saturday, February 1, 2020 to elect a new Mayor and two City Council Members in the City Special Officers Election being held at the Multi-Purpose Center, 480 South Adams Street, from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
As a result of Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu’s resignation on November 10, 2019 in order to run for the Texas House of Representatives District 74 in the Democratic Party Primary Election of March 3, 2020, the City Council called a Special City Officers Election for February 1st to elect a new Mayor, and since two incumbent City Council Members registered for the Mayoral race, two City Council positions became open for election in the same February 1st Special Election too.
Voters will cast ballots for Mayor between City Council Members Luis E. Sifuentes and Rudy Villalpando. Both have over 11 years of experience serving in the Eagle Pass City Council. Who will win? You have the power and right to vote for the candidate of your choice by participating in the February 1st Election.
Vying for City Council Place 2 are three new political candidates in Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza, Elias Diaz, and Frank “Franky” Sanchez. All three candidates have significant experience in the public sector to offer voters. You will decide which one wins if you come out to vote on Saturday, February 1st.
Seeking the City Council Place 2 position are local attorney Rolando Salinas and Mario “Mayito” Obregon. You get to decide which one wins by voting on February 1st.
A total of 3,234 votes were already cast during the January 15-28, 2020 Early Voting Period.
Another 3,000 or more voters are expected to cast their votes on Saturday, February 1st.
