A Message From Jaime “AJ” Iracheta, Candidate for Maverick County Attorney

Jaime “AJ” Iracheta has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce his candidacy for Maverick County Attorney in the Texas Democratic Party Primary Election on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, commencing with Early Voting from February 18-28, 2020 and Election Day on March 3rd.
With the support of my family, I made the decision to run for the office of Maverick County Attorney. I love this community. I believe that the Strength of a Community comes from citizens working together to create positive growth and change.
My name is Jaime “AJ” Iracheta, I am the 4th generation of a family that has made Maverick County their home since 1915. My paternal grandparents are Juan R. and Maria Lopez Iracheta. My maternal grandparents are the late George and Rosa Kypuros.
My parents are Juan Jose “Cone” Iracheta and Rosa Kypuros Iracheta. Both of my parents served as teachers in our community for over 35 years. I have three siblings, Diandra I. Gentry, J.J. Iracheta Jr., and J.R. Iracheta. I am married to Selina Salinas Iracheta, also a teacher, and we have three children, Robert (5), Eli (3), and Adalynn (1).
I come from a family of farmers and migrant workers who taught me the value of a united family, a strong work ethic, and the pursuit of education. These values were critical in inspiring me to become the person I am today.
I graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 2004. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Business & Management in 2008 from Texas State University. I then continued my studies at South Texas College of Law in Houston where I obtained my Law Degree in 2012.
After law school, I returned to Eagle Pass to begin my legal career. Currently, I own and operate Iracheta Law, PLLC, my private legal practice. In practicing law, I have represented many citizens in our community; making sure transparency and integrity were priority. In 2017, the Maverick County Commissioners Court considered me for appointment to the then vacant Maverick County Attorney position. After I submitted all required documentation and after completing a lengthy interview process, I was unanimously appointed and served as your Maverick County Attorney from January 2018 to March 2019.
As your County Attorney I built strong relationships with Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement agencies, so that I could better serve our community. I was able to return thousands of dollars to victims of crimes and processed hundreds of cases. My staff and I worked hard to address the needs that each case merited. The cases I processed resulted in multiple convictions, jail time, probation, counseling, restitution for victims, and community service. Accountability for all was always priority during my time as your County Attorney.
To benefit our ever-growing Maverick County community, I am proud to say I was able to secure, for the first time, an Assistant County Attorney Position for the County Attorney’s Office. In upholding my oath to the State of Texas and to this community, my office was diligent in pursuing justice and following the rule of law. Because I believe there should be accountability for all, I appealed a judgment made in Maverick County Court that did not follow the rule of law. This appeal was reviewed and processed by the 4th Court of Appeals of Texas. I am proud to say that my appeal was recently decided and upheld.
I, Jaime “AJ” Iracheta, am a candidate to be your next Maverick County Attorney because it is time for the people to decide whom they want in that office. I love this community and I want to see the Maverick County we all deserve. As your County Attorney, I will continue the work I started and make sure we make accountability a priority.
I humbly request your support. Lets do this Maverick County!
Respectfully,
Jaime “AJ” Iracheta
