One Man Killed and Another Critically Wounded in Shootout in Maverick County

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that a dispute among several men resulted in one person shot and killed by an assailant and another person was critically injured and airlifted to a San Antonio medical center for treatment of his gunshot wounds on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

The incident occurred on Cross Creek Street near FM 1588 (Thompson Road) in Eagle Pass, Texas at a residence. The assailant fled the scene of the incident and was later arrested in San Antonio, Texas after an intensive manhunt by law enforcement authorities.

The names of the assailant, deceased, and injured person have not been released yet as the case remains under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Rangers.
