Maverick County Democratic Party Chair Juanita V. Martinez Urges Candidates to Register By December 9th

Maverick County Democratic Party Chairperson Juanita V. Martinez announced that the Candidate Registration Period for the March 3, 2020 Texas Democratic Party Primary Election is from November 9, 2019 through December 9, 2019.
Martinez urges all the Maverick County Democratic Candidates to register with the Maverick County Democratic Party as soon as possible and definitely by no later than December 9th. Any candidate that does not register by the December 9th deadline will not be included as a candidate, unless they register as a Write-In candidate.
Among the Maverick County positions up for election include the County Sheriff, County Attorney, County Commissioner Precincts 1 and 3, County Tax Assessor-Collector, and Constable for Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Also on the ballot for the March 3rd Primary Election are the positions for District Attorney, Texas Senate District 19, Texas House of Representatives District 74, and U.S. House of Representative District 23 and U.S. Senate, but candidates for these positions register at the State Democratic Party Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The winners at the respective Democratic and Republican Party Primaries on March 3rd will advance to the Texas General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The election winners at the November 3rd General Election will be declared the winners of each respective position for the next four year term commencing January 1, 2021.
Martinez noted that the following candidates have registered with the Maverick County Democratic Party as of Tuesday, November 19, 2020: For Maverick County Attorney-Jaime “A.J.” Iracheta; For Sheriff-Tom Schmerber; Constable Precinct 1-Jose Duran; Constable Precinct 2-Denise Cantu; For Constable Precinct 2-Alberto De La Torre; and For Constable Precinct 4-Jose Regalado.
Martinez noted that there are other people who have already posted campaign signs throughout the community, but have not yet officially registered with the Maverick County Democratic Party. Martinez requests these candidates and those wishing to register as candidates to please get registered as soon as possible so that there is not a rush or backlog on the day of the December 9th deadline.
Martinez stated that candidates can register with either herself or Evangelina “Vangie” De Leon, Democratic Party Secretary, at the Maverick County Democratic Party Headquarters located at 1095 Del Rio Blvd., Suite C, Eagle Pass, Texas 78852. Martinez noted that the Maverick County Democratic Party Headquarters at 1095 Del Rio Blvd., Suite C, will be open from 8 A.M. to 12 Midnight on December 9th to accommodate candidate registrations, but she recommends candidates to register early and as soon as possible (now) and not to wait until December 9th.
