Heriberto “Eddie” Morales, Jr. Announces Candidacy for State Representative District 74

Eagle Pass attorney Heriberto “Eddie” Morales, Jr. announced his candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives, District 74, in the March 3, 2020 Democratic Party Primary at a press conference in Eagle Pass, Texas. The General Election is November 3, 2020.
State Representative District 74 Alfonso “Poncho” Nevarez announced on November 8, 2019 that he was not seeking re-election for a fifth term in 2020, creating an opening for new candidates to seek the position held by Nevarez since 2013.
Morales has 19 years experience as an attorney and at least twice as many as a business entrepreneur with his family-owned Piedras Negras Tortilleria in Eagle Pass.
Born and raised in Eagle Pass, Morales graduated from Eagle Pass High School, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, and obtained a Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2000. He has been a licensed attorney and a member of the State Bar of Texas since 2000.
Morales stated that he has 44 years of experience and wishes to contribute his leadership and service to the constituents of the 12 counties-wide District 74 which shares over 600 miles of the Texas-Mexico border, West Texas, and Southwest Texas. The 12 counties within District 74 include Maverick, Val Verde, Kinney, Brewster, Culberson, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Loving, Pecos, Reeves, and Terrell.
Morales noted that he will pursue transparency, fiscal responsibility, and integrity in state government. He seeks to bring unity within District 74 and the State of Texas.
