Maverick County Hospital District Celebrates National Physician Assistant Week
(Press Release) This week, Maverick County Hospital District celebrates National Physician Assistant Week and recognizes the important members of the organization for their contributions to the health and well-being of the community. The following members are being recognized:
Elizabeth Martinez-Alamillo, PA-C
Mrs. Elizabeth Martinez-Alamillo, PA-C is a native of Eagle Pass, Texas. She graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1994, and earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology from UTSA in 1998. She was accepted into the very competitive and rigorous PA Program at UTMB in Galveston and finished her degree in 2000. She is passionate about providing excellent and patient-centered care as a Physician Assistant at Maverick County Hospital District’s newly formed Family Medicine Department. She is also Nationally Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant – a Certification Program that continues to be required and maintained by constant study and testing for the span of a PA’s career, assuring that the PA’s at MCHD are well-trained and up-to-date with current standards of care for patients of all ages and illnesses.
Mrs. Martinez-Alamillo has been happily married to Dalivov Alamillo for the past 20 years and has two beautiful children. She is a founding member of the Mid-Level Providers Association of Southwest Texas – an organization that provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors from both EPHS and CC Winn High School. She enjoys being both a Boy Scout Mom and a Cheer Mom. She is a member of the ACTS Community.

Hilda De Leon, PA-C
Hilda De Leon, PA-C, is a native of Eagle Pass, Texas and currently specializes in Family Medicine for the Maverick County Hospital District. The youngest of 6 siblings (all girls), Hilda is known as a caring, patient-centered, and enthusiastic member of our organization. She graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1993, and continued her education at Texas A&M University, graduating in 1997. Ms. Hilda completed her Physician’s Assistant degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2001. She is also Nationally Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant – a Certification Program that continues to be required and maintained by constant study and testing for the span of a PA’s career, assuring that the PA’s at MCHD are well-trained and up-to-date with current standards of care for patients of all ages and illnesses.
Hilda is well-known for her laugh, smile, animated sense of humor, and for being an attentive listener. Among her many achievements, Hilda proudly served as a professor at the UTHSCSA Physician Assistant Program, and served as President of the Mid-Level Providers Association of Southwest Texas.
Mrs. De Leon has been happily married to her husband Julio for eight years, and is the proud mother of her seven-year old daughter Yaretzi.
Isela Segura, PA-C
Miss Isela Segura is a native of Eagle Pass, Texas and graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1994. She continued her studies at Southwest Texas Junior College and finished a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Sciences and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies in 2013 from UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. She has worked in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine for more than 20 years in many roles including Certified Nurse Assistant and Office Manager and now continues to pursue her love of patient care by working as a Physician Assistant at Maverick County Hospital District’s newly formed Family Medicine Department. Isela is also Nationally Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant – a Certification Program that continues to be required and maintained by constant study and testing for the span of a PA’s career, assuring that the PA’s at MCHD are well-trained and up-to-date with current standards of care for patients of all ages and illnesses.
She is proud of her family’s ancestry which hails from Allende, Coahuila. She has 9 nieces and nephews, 2 siblings, and two very proud parents. She is newly engaged and is excited to continue to provide quality care to the patients of her beloved community.

Denise Nemeth, MPAS, PA-C
Denise Nemeth, MPAS, PA-C is a General Surgery Physician Assistant who graduated from UT Health San Antonio in 2015 and is licensed to practice medicine by the Texas Medical Board. She has been practicing in our community since graduation, as she is an Eagle Pass native. Ms. Nemeth is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) and Board Certified by the American Board of Surgical Assistants as a First Assist. Ms. Nemeth is Nationally Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant – a Certification Program that continues to be required and maintained by constant study and testing for the span of a PA’s career, assuring that the PA’s at MCHD are well-trained and up-to-date with current standards of care for patients of all ages and illnesses.
Currently, she works alongside our General Surgeons: Dr. Aguirre, Dr. Birungi, and Dr. Gutierrez. As a General Surgery PA, Ms. Nemeth treats patients in the clinic and hospital. She performs procedures in the clinic and assists our surgeons in the operating room. You will often see her during or after your visit with your surgeon. She is always available to help you with any questions and visit with you after your surgery.
Mary P. Arth, NP-C
Mary Patricia Arth, MSN, RN, NP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner for the Maverick County Hospital District. She graduated from the Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She continued her education at the Abilene Christian University and received a Master of Science in Nursing in 2006. Ms. Arth is licensed as an RN by the Texas Board of Nursing, and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Throughout her career, Ms. Arth has practiced as a Registered Nurse for various organizations, including the Westgate Medical Center in Denton, West Texas Medical Center in Abilene, and Humana Hospital in Abilene.
Since 2017, Mrs. Arth has been a Nurse Practitioner and member of Maverick County Hospital District’s Physicians Specialty Group Urology Department.
Claudia D. Salinas, AGNP-C
Claudia D. Salinas, MSN, AGNP-C is a Board Certified Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. Her certification allows her to treat adolescents through adults and into advanced age (13 year olds and up). She began her career in healthcare in 1997 as a Certified Nurse Aide by working for a private Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic in Eagle Pass, Texas. She has 22 years of experience in the medical field and in various areas of patient care. While employed, Ms. Salinas completed the Licensed Vocational Nurse Program through Southwest Texas Junior College. Soon after, she decided to pursue her career and completed the Associate Degree Registered Nurse Program through San Antonio College. In addition to her clinical experience, Ms. Salinas has an academic background that includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing obtained through South University in Savannah, Georgia and a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Program of Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing and Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Currently, she is enrolled in the American Society of Clinical Oncologist Certification program for Nurse Practitioners.
Throughout the years, she has observed and learned each component of patient care. She learned how important it is to treat the patient as a whole. Therefore, her ethical foundations as a practitioner include the incorporation of the holistic care approach into the plan of care which includes the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspect of each person.
Her goal is to treat each and every patient on an individual basis and provide high quality holistic care on a timely manner.
