Del Rio Border Patrol Sector Hosts Unified Command Meeting

(Press Release) Del Rio Border Patrol Sector hosted a multi-agency meeting to discuss joint operations and future collaborative enforcement efforts in the shared border area, Oct. 23.
Representatives from multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies met at the sector headquarters building for discussion focused on joint enforcement efforts to target human and narcotics smuggling organizations. Agencies shared information about case development, methodology and resolution and their individual roles. They then laid plans for future operations, emphasizing partnership and teamwork as critical elements of success.
“It’s important for people to know that we have developed a strong culture of partnership and joint-effort that defines the scope of our operations against criminal networks,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “No one agency can counter criminal networks alone. It requires persistent communication, collaboration and coordination with multiple agencies; which is what these meetings are all about.”
Each agency had an opportunity to discuss specific successes and challenges experienced over the past year in targeting illicit criminal networks. Further discussion highlighted efforts taken to gain the government of Mexico’s support for enforcement actions outside of the United States. The meeting was organized by the Del Rio Area Team component of the Joint Task Force-West (JTF-W).
The JTF-W provides centralized organizational support and works to foster communication between multiple federal, state and local agencies to leverage a whole-of-government approach to identify, degrade and dismantle criminal organizations operating along the Southwest border, all while working to facilitate the flow of lawful trade, travel and commerce.
Del Rio Border Patrol Sector will continue to work closely with their area law enforcement partners in seeking the disruption and dismantlement of criminal smuggling networks.
