Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
Friday, May 3, 2019, 9:00 PM: Eagle Pass Police Officers assigned to Stone Garden Operations attempted to stop a white Suburban in the downtown area. The vehicle failed to stop and led officers on a brief pursuit which ended on Luis Street and Williams Street with the driver of the vehicle exiting and fleeing on foot. Officers gave chase and took into custody 31 year-old Adrian Rodriguez who was formally charged before a magistrate with 3rd Degree Felony Evading Arrest with a vehicle and 2nd Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Rodriguez was also charged with a State Jail Felony of Credit Card Abuse from an incident reported in April 2019. A passenger in the suburban identified as Juan Carlos Garcia was also arrested and charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Rodriguez and Garcia were remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $32,000.00 bond and $7,000.00 respectively.
Friday, May 3, 2019, 8:50 AM: Officers investigating a possible theft in progress at a convenience store within the 600 block of Main Street attempted to speak with 58-year-old Kenneth Michael Batts. Officers repeatedly called out to Batts as he exited the store who ignored officers’ commands and fled on foot initiating a pursuit. Officers were able to follow and take Batts into custody after he entered a residence within the 400 block of Jefferson Street. Batts was charged before a magistrate with misdemeanor evading arrest and issued a misdemeanor citation for the charge of theft under $100.00. Batts was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention center in lieu of a $2000.00 bond.
