Eagle Pass Dance Instructor Arrested and Charged with Theft of Service
(Press Release) On May 1, 2019, 40-year-old Abel Sanchez was arrested on a warrant obtained by the Eagle Pass Police Department.
The arrest stems from an investigation which initiated in April 2019. Five separate complainants stated fees were paid to Sanchez to attend dance competitions and for his services as a dance instructor. The investigation revealed the fees paid by the complainants were not utilized for their intended purpose after competitions were cancelled and funds were not refunded.
Abel Sanchez was formally charged before a magistrate with theft of service over $2500.00 but less than $30,000.00 which is a state jail felony. Sanchez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2500.00 bond and the case will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for further legal action.
