Eagle Pass Heroes to Host First Ever Autism Convention in Eagle Pass, Texas
(Press Release) Location, Date: – April 13, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., International Center for Trade, 3295 Bob Rogers Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas
On April 13, 2019, local non-profit organization, Eagle Pass HEROES, will host the first ever Autism Convention in Eagle Pass. The 2019 “Be a Hero” Autism Convention will provide valuable autism resources and trainings for parents, educators, students, business leaders and first responders in our community. Admission to the convention will be free.
The 2019 Autism Convention will take place at the International Center for Trade. The convention agenda includes Autismo 101 (en Español), by Dr. Berenice de la Cruz, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LBA of Autism Community Network in San Antonio. There will also be sessions presented by Lisa Guerrero, M.Ed, BCBA & Tyler Holt, M.Ed, BCBA of Autism Therapy Group on the Basics of ABA Therapy. The convention will include two separate presentations from Dr. James Williams, CRC, CAS of Blooms Consulting. Dr. James Williams will speak on Transitioning into the Workplace and Living and Loving with Autism: Tips for Teaching Relationships and Social Skills to Individuals with ASD. Alonzo Andrews, MA, BCBA & Janet Enriquez, MS of Special Workshops will speak to convention attendees about Evidence Based Practices and Verbal Behavior. Tisha Gonzalez, M.A. SLP, BCBA LBA, TCAC and Sandra E. Jacobs, M.A. BCBA LBA, TCAC of Bee Social Network in San Antonio will be providing training on autism awareness and interaction strategies to First Responders. Additionally, Bee Social Network’s “Inclusive Friends” presentation is the first ever training geared towards high school students regarding autism awareness. The keynote speaker for the 2019 “Be a Hero” Autism Convention will be Catrina Purcell Longoria of Longoria & Kelly, PLLC in Eagle Pass.
In addition to the presentations, vendors providing goods and services to the special needs community will be set up with informational booths at the convention.
