Liliana Flores is Named Port Director for Del Rio Port of Entry
DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) formally announced today at a change of command ceremony held at the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District’s Administration Building that Liliana Flores has been selected as the new port director for the Del Rio Port of Entry.
“I am excited and honored to have been given this opportunity to return to my hometown and serve as port director for this wonderful port. I am eager to apply experiences to improve processes for the people we serve and protect in this border community. I look forward to meetings with key governmental and trade stakeholders. I also anticipate working with state, county, and city law enforcement agencies as well as with consular officials and other partners from Mexico. I will also work with consular officials and our partners from Mexico in a constructive way to continually improve facilitation of lawful trade and travel while upholding our border security mission,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry.
Selected as the Del Rio Port of Entry port director in January 2019, Port Director Flores manages a diverse workforce of 119 employees, staffed throughout two international bridge crossings, one commercial crossing, and one international airport. Ms. Flores has the oversight responsibility for the processing of over 1.6 million inbound passenger vehicles, close to 3 million travelers, roughly 375 flights, on average 80,000 inbound commercial vehicles and commercial movements with an annual import/export value of over $1.6 billion.
Port Director Flores began her law enforcement career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations on July 2007 as a CBP officer at the El Paso Port of Entry in El Paso, Texas. Ms. Flores has been the driving force of numerous concepts that have been implemented at the field office level and nationally.
Establishing her strong work ethic and ability to adapt early on, Ms. Flores has risen through the ranks. She was promoted to Supervisory CBP officer at the El Paso Port of Entry. In 2015, Ms. Flores transferred to the Laredo Port of Entry. From June 2016 to May 2017, Ms. Flores served as interim Chief CBP officer at the Laredo Field Office Workforce Liaison Unit. In June 2017, she was officially promoted to the Chief CBP officer position within the Workforce Liaison Unit. The Workforce Liaison Unit is known as a robust unit that has become a model unit for other field offices. In 2018, Ms. Flores became a Program Manager under Border Security at the Laredo Field Office, where she managed numerous enforcement operations and programs.
Port Director Flores has had an integral role as instructor for numerous CBP Headquarters training initiatives, including the 2010 Iraqi Reconstruction Program, Border Patrol Northern Border Interdiction Training, Border Transition Training and Operation Intrepid Training. As the lead coordinator and instructor for Operation Intrepid Training, Ms. Flores collaborated with El Paso Sector Office of Border Patrol to lead a training that resulted in numerous outbound currency and weapon seizures that had a combined seizure value of over $2.5 million.
Port Director Flores is a native of Val Verde County where she graduated from Comstock High School in Comstock, Texas. Upon her graduation, Ms. Flores attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Prior to her career with the U.S. government, Ms. Flores enjoyed a career as an elementary bilingual educator. She is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Sabrina and Kayla.
