CBP Officers Intercept $135K in Cocaine During Seizure at Camino Real Bridge

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers maintained strict vigilance and seized more than $135,000 in cocaine in a single enforcement action at the Camino Real Bridge.
“Securing the passenger environment is a critical mission for CBP and this significant cocaine seizure underscores the need for our officers to stay ever-vigilant and aware of the narcotics threat while facilitating lawful travel,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Friday, March 22 at the Camino Real Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2009 Ford Escape for a secondary examination. Following a non-intrusive imaging system inspection, CBP officers discovered 7 packages containing a total 17.6 pounds of alleged cocaine hidden within the conveyance. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $135,660.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and case was turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
