Harold Valdez Named EPISD Teacher of the Month for January 2019
Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community. The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
January’s Teacher of the Month is none other than Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School’s, Mr. Harold Valdez. Mr. Valdez is an outstanding teacher and has been a true asset to the 6th grade team for two years. He has remarkable ideas and strategies on how to teach Math to the Bobcats. He applies methods, knowledge, strategies, and personal experience that makes the students feel motivated and want to be successful. The students respond greatly to his techniques and always find themselves engaged in every lesson.
Mr. Valdez’ colleagues are delighted to work with him as they find themselves constantly going to him for new ideas for Math instruction. They enjoy working with him because he is always excited and eager to help the staff in any way possible. The passion Mr Valdez has for his subject and for teaching inspires those around him. One of his greatest qualities is that he is always ready to learn and find new ways to better himself for his students.
Mr. Valdez always lends a helping hand when it comes to extracurricular activities. He is currently coaches General Math and Calculater UIL. He also motivates the staff to want to work with him in these activities such as district competitions. His creativity usually always seems to be in the Bobcats’ favor.
For all these reasons and more, Mr. Valdez is Teacher of the Month.
A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of January detailing many more accomplishments of Mr. Valdez. This month he will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout January 2019. A teacher will be selected each month through May 2019 for a total of eight (8) honorees. The “Teacher of the Month” will be chosen based on educational achievements in the classroom, community contributions and innovative programs and techniques used by the teacher. The “Teacher of the Month” will receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured on iVision, local media news, news publications and radio broadcasting. Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses.
Each T.O.M is receiving a “V.I.T (Very Important Teacher) Parking Pass”, a jean voucher for a month, 20 free meals at the Campus Café, and Class Cash to purchase class room supplies. Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses.
