Senator Flores & Representative Nevarez Team Up with Eagle Pass BEDC
(Eagle Pass, TX – November 16, 2018) The City of Eagle Pass Business & Economic Development Committee (BEDC) and the Offices of State Senator Peter Flores and Representative Poncho Nevarez will hold a Collaborative Small Business Workshop in partnership with the Texas Comptroller’s Office and the Texas Secretary of State on December 6, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. – 1 p.m., at International Center for Trade (West Room).
The workshop will offer regional businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs the current requirements to register businesses through the State of Texas. The Texas Secretary of State (SOS) is charged with the governance of business registration in the State. The SOS offers many support services for businesses from filing information, to business start-up services, and training and educational resources.
The workshop will also feature a presentation from the Texas Comptroller’s Office. The Comptroller’s Office serves as the tax collector, purchaser, treasurer, accountant, and revenue estimator for the State of Texas. The Comptroller’s Office offers a variety of free services to assist businesses to meet all required revenue reporting procedures for the State of Texas.
“We are pleased to team up with Senator Flores and Representative Nevarez and the Offices of the Secretary of State and State Comptroller to support or local businesses,” says Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu. “I strongly encourage every business owner and anyone wanting to start a business to attend this very important workshop, especially since we are bringing the experts of business registration and sales tax reporting to Eagle Pass,” adds Mayor English-Cantu.
The City of Eagle Pass BEDC has held over a dozen workshops to support local businesses since last fall and has workshops schedule through next year.
“Mayor English-Cantu and the City Council have been staunch supporters of the BEDC’s efforts to leverage state and federal resources to support local business owners through our workshop series and we look forward to continue this valuable economic development initiative,” says Eagle Pass BEDC Chairman Morris Libson.
