Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
(PRESS RELEASE)
Friday, June 22, 2018: A male subject identified as 28-year-old Ernesto Leija came to the Eagle Pass Police Department and while speaking with a detective was informed of an active warrant for his arrest for the charge of assault. Leija was taken into custody and presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with the assault of a family member and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $3500 bond. A protective order was also signed by the magistrate and served on Leija regarding the family member.
Friday, June 22, 2018, 12:09 AM: Eagle Pass Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a grey Dodge Neon within the 2100 block of Main Street pursuant to a traffic violation. Officers spoke with the juvenile female driver and a male passenger. The male passenger was requested to step out of the vehicle and while speaking with officers he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, 19-year-old Jose Martin Quinones was caught and arrested within the 2100 block of Quarry Street in the backyard of a private residence. Quinones was later presented before a magistrate and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2000 bond.
Saturday, June 23, 2018, 2:31 AM: Eagle Pass Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Second Street and North Veterans Boulevard. Officers spoke to both parties involved and detected signs of intoxication on the driver of a white 2018 Dodge Journey. The driver; 26-year-old Brandon Ivan Hernandez was placed under arrest after three standardized field sobriety tests were conducted and numerous clues of intoxication were displayed. Hernandez was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with a 2nd offense of driving while intoxicated and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2500 bond.
Sunday June 24, 2018, 5:39 AM: While searching for a grey Mustang which had eluded officers in an earlier incident, officers encountered the vehicle once again traveling South on North Veterans Boulevard. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit which ended in the 2400 block of Main Street after the Mustang collided with a concrete curb rendering the vehicle inoperable. The driver; 19-year-old Brandon Emilio Gonzalez was taken into custody and transported to the police department where he was processed and later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with evading arrest and detention in a vehicle which is a 3rd degree felony and racing upon a highway a class B misdemeanor. Gonzalez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a combined $3500 bond for both charges. A 19-year-old female passenger was also detained but later released.
