The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles Baseball Team rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh inning of Game 2 against the La Joya High School Coyotes to earn an 11-10 win and a sweep of the Coyotes in the 2018 Bi-District Championship on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex Baseball Stadium in Laredo, Texas, announced Head Coach Reynol Mendoza.
The Eagles shut out the La Joya Coyotes in Game 1 by a score of 7-0 on Friday, May 4th, to take a 1-0 lead in the best of three Bi-District Championship series.
The Eagles were trailing 9-8 in Game 2 after six complete innings of play against the pesky Coyotes, but rallied with three big runs in the top of the seventh inning in their last at bat to take the lead 11-9 with three outs remaining. The Eagles defense buckled down and only allowed the Coyotes one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the victory in Game 2 by the final score of 11-10.
The Eagles sweep of the La Joya Coyotes advances them to the Area Championship next week against the winner of the Edinburg Vela Sabercats and Harlingen Cardinals at a date, site, and time to be announced.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal congratulates the Eagle Pass Eagles on winning the Bi-District Championship against the La Joya Coyotes. Go Eagles Baby!
