EPHS Student Alex Alonso Selected for AAU Basketball Team
(PRESS RELEASE) Alex Alonso, junior Guard, at Eagle Pass High School (EPHS) is taking his Hoop Dreams to the next level. Alex has been selected to play for an exclusive select AAU team from San Antonio. The H.O.H. Brotherhood Team. Alex traveled to Dallas this weekend to play with his new team in the Bigfoot Dallas Live Tournament. Players form across the nation competed and played in front of 20+ collegiate coaches for a chance to showcase their talent. Alex played in 4 games and recorded a total of 90 points, 21 assists and 22 rebounds, averaging 22.5 points and 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game against teams from Arizona, Louisiana, Houston and Dallas.
Alex has been playing organized sports since the age of 7. At 11 years old he decided to dedicate his efforts full time to basketball. As a member of the Regulators Select Team, coached by his father, Alex has developed his game on the road for five years now. He has played an average of 50 games per “offseason”. He has been on school teams as well. All of that hard work and training is beginning to pay off. This past season he was named to the 29-6A 2nd team all-district team. Now the selection to this team will give Alex to opportunity develop further and get closer to his dream of playing collegiate basketball.
