San Antonio Convicted Felon Arrested at Eagle Pass Hotel
(Press Release) On Monday, March 12, 2018 at 1:15 PM, Eagle Pass Police Officers responded to the Hampton Inn located within the 3300 block of East Main Street in reference to an unwanted subject.
Investigating officers were informed of a male subject in a hotel room who failed to leave on or about the designated checkout time. Access to the hotel room was allowed where a male subject was encountered who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown type of narcotic or alcohol. During the course of speaking with the male subject he informed officers he had just injected a dose of heroin which was the reason for his current state of mind. The male subject was taken into custody and identified as 45 year old Julio Enrique Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas. While conducting prisoner safety procedures, Rodriguez was discovered to have a 9mm Beretta pistol in his waistband area which was removed, secured and later placed into evidence. Several syringes and other drug paraphernalia items were also discovered within the hotel room restroom which was processed accordingly.
Julio Enrique Rodriguez was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after computerized inquiry revealed Rodriguez to be a convicted felon. Rodriguez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $4500 bond.
