Rio Grande City Border Patrol K-9’s lead agents to seize over $6.1 million

EDINBURG,Texas – On Tuesday, November 14, a K-9 team assigned to the Brownsville Border Patrol Station

confiscated slightly more than eight pounds of methamphetamine during an operation in Brownsville, Texas. The agent’s K-9 partner alerted to the presence of narcotics on a delivery truck. Further inspection revealed a small quantity of packages concealed in liquid foam. The nine packages of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth $267,840 were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The next day, Kingsville agents apprehended a male subject as he attempted to smuggle a load of cocaine through the checkpoint. During a non-intrusive vehicle inspection, a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. Further inspection revealed that the trunk held three suitcases containing nearly 185 pounds of cocaine. The DEA took custody of the vehicle, United States citizen driver, and 32 bundles of cocaine valued at $5,844,800.
