Eagle Pass Police Detective Luis A. Garza Honored For 35 Years of Service Upon Retirement

Eagle Pass Police Sergeant/Detective Luis A. Garza was honored by the Eagle Pass City Council for his dedicated service and protection of the citizens of the community for 35 years at an emotional City Council retirement ceremony held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu congratulated and thanked Detective Luis A Garza on his retirement after a successful 35 year career with the Eagle Pass Police Department. Mayor Cantu presented Garza with a gift from the City of Eagle Pass and a plaque commemorating his loyal 35 years of service to the citizens of Eagle Pass.
Eagle Pass Police Chief Alberto Guajardo stated he was happy for Sergeant Luis A. Garza’s reaching a career milestone of retirement after 35 years with the Eagle Pass Police Department, but was sad at the same time to be losing a valuable asset of the Department.
Police Chief Alberto Guajardo and his administration presented Sergeant Garza with a beautiful gift and a framed American Flag with an inscription commemorating his service and retirement from the Eagle Pass Police Department.
The Eagle Pass Administration and Human Resources Department presented Sergeant Garza with another gift of a wallet with his years of service to the Eagle Pass Police Department inscribed inside the wallet.
Sergeant Luis A. Garza served the Eagle Pass Police Department from 1982 through 2017. In addition, Sergeant Garza served in the United States military in 1974 during the latter part of the Vietnam War. Sergeant Garza noted that he did not serve in combat during the Vietnam War as the United States was withdrawing from that war.
Sergeant Garza thanked the City of Eagle Pass, City Council, Eagle Pass Police Department, and City Administration for their lovely gifts and well wishes on his retirement. Sergeant Garza stated that his 35 years of service in the Eagle Pass Police Department had been his best years to date because he had met many fellow officers and citizens while fulfilling his police duties. He added that he looks forward to his retirement and being able to pursue several personal projects.
