Eagle Pass Delegation Attends Energy Industry Luncheon
(San Antonio, TX – August 23, 2017) A delegation representing the City of Eagle Pass and its Business & Economic Development (BEDC), attended the Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos or AEM Energy Industry Luncheon in San Antonio, TX, on Monday, August 21, 2017.
The city’s delegation included Eagle Pass BEDC Chairman Morris Libson, BEDC Energy & Natural Resources Sub-Committee Chairman Nik Libson, and EMC Strategy Group Owner & Founder Janice and President & CEO Ernie Gonzalez.
Special guests at the AEM Luncheon included: Texas Secretary of State Rolando Palobos, Chairman Commissioner Guillermo Garcia Alcocer, of the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission, Texas Railroad Commissioner Ryan Sitton, Bill Magness, CEO of ERCOT (Texas Electric Reliability Council), and former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza.
The speakers presented a positive vision for the future of the energy industry impacting both the State of Texas and Mexico. They stressed the need for government to invest in greater infrastructure and to also work with the energy industry to help build an avenue for economic growth. Representatives from Mexico and the United States echoed the need for more uniformed and streamlined regulatory industry standards that could make it easier for American and Mexican energy companies do business, while at the same time protecting the environment.
“Eagle Pass needs to maintain our presence at these important energy industry events so that we can be involved in the conversation for economic growth, especially through energy opportunities,” says Eagle Pass City Manager Art Rodriguez.
“We are certainly going to engage our state and federal government officials and conduct outreach to our partners across the Rio Grande,” says Eagle Pass BEDC Chairman. “We have a common interest to improve the economy on both sides of the border, prosperity has no borders,” adds Libson.
The Eagle Pass BEDC established the Energy & Natural Resources Sub-Committee in July and has already attended the Eagle Ford Consortium Regional Meeting in Corpus Christi and the AEM Energy Industry Luncheon this month. The sub-committee is led by Nik Libson. Nik will be working through his sub-committee to identify energy related opportunities that support local and regional economic growth.
