293rd District Judge Cynthia Muñiz Will Not Seek Re-Election in 2018
The Honorable Cynthia L. Muñiz, Presiding Judge of the 293rd Judicial District Court, has asked this publication to formally announce that she will not be seeking re-election for a sixth term of office in the 2018 elections. Judge Muñiz will retire at the end of her current term of office, which expires on December 31, 2018.
Judge Muñiz was first elected in 1998 and began serving her term on the bench on January 1, 1999. She was subsequently re-elected without an opponent in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014.
Judge Muñiz stated, “It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve the constituents of Maverick, Dimmit, and Zavala counties. I would like to thank all of the persons who have been supportive of me throughout the years and especially those who have kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I am especially thankful to my family and friends who have given me strength and unwavering support, and to my staff for their tireless hard work and dedication to the administration of justice. I look forward to serving out the rest of my current term and to retiring after twenty years of service.”
