Eagle Pass Winn Lady Mavericks Cassandra Flores Named Co-Most Valuable Player and 11 Lady Mavericks Named to All-District Softball Team

Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks Head Softball Coach J. J. Iracheta has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce that Lady Mavericks standout senior shortstop Cassandra Flores was named the 2017 District 29-5A Softball Co-Most Valuable Player by the District head coaches and a total of 11 Lady Mavericks were named to the 2017 District 29-5A Softball All-District Team.
Lady Mavericks Cassandra Flores and Uvalde Lobo standout junior Denise Longoria were named 2017 Co-Most Valuable Players in District 29-5A among its six member schools composed of C. C. Winn, Uvalde, Floresville, San Antonio Harlandale, San Antonio McCollum, and San Antonio Southside.
Two Lady Mavericks were named to the 2017 District 29-5A All-District First Team, including Daniela Rodriguez-Infield and YaYa Martinez-Outfield.
Five Lady Mavericks were named to the 2017 District 29-5A All-District Second Team, including MaryChelo Flores-Infield, Anissa Garcia-Infield, Brianna Soto-Infield, Martha Garcia-Outfield, and Arianna Soto-Outfield.
Two Lady Mavericks were named to the 2017 District 29-5A Honorable Mention Team, including Connie Hernandez and Jasmin Ballones.
Two Lady Mavericks were named to the 2017 District 29-5A Academic All-District Team, including Kianna Diaz and MaryChelo Flores.
In addition to these 11 Lady Mavericks receiving 2017 District 29-5A Softball All-District Honors, Floresville Jaguars standout freshman pitcher Jordyn Trevino was named the Most Outstanding Pitcher of the Year, Floresville Jaguars standout senior catcher Sierra Valdez was named the Most Outstanding Catcher of the Year, San Antonio Southside Cardinals standout freshman Jazmine Torres was named the Newcomer of the Year, San Antonio McCollum Cowgirls standout senior Brianna Kinnard was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year, and Uvalde Lobo standout sophomore Kylie Sendejo was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Lady Mavericks Head Coach J.J. Iracheta stated that he was very pleased that a total of 11 of his players received 2017 District 29-5A Softball All-District honors.
The Winn Lady Mavericks had an outstanding 2017 softball season with a Bi-District Championship, Area Finalist, and Distict 29-5A Runner-Up Championship (second place).
