USMC Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro passes away
Many Maverick Countians mourn the death of native Eagle Passan and United States Marines Corps Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro, age 24, who passed away on March 29, 2017 in Prince William County, Virginia while serving in the United States military.
USMC Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro attended public school in the Eagle Pass Independent School District and graduated from C. C. Winn High School in 2010. While at C. C. Winn, Lance Corporal Alfaro was a member of the Thundering Mavericks Marching Band and the Mariachi Band. He also participated in the Criminal Justice Club and graduated from its leadership program. Lance Corporal Alfaro also graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Lance Corporal Alfaro served almost five years in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from the USMC Military Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Lance Corporal Alfaro was also a member of the Cherokee Nation and was very proud of his Native American heritage and was given the name of Lance Corporal Joseph Tesanee Bearclaw Yuyutsu.
Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro is survived by his wife, Lacy Ashlock, who is expecting a child, his parents, Juan Jose Alfaro and Sonia Torres de Alfaro of Eagle Pass, Texas, three brothers, Jessie James, Josiah Jay, and Josue Julian, one sister, Hermila, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
Alfaro’s funeral services are under the direction of Yeager-Barrera Mortuary of Eagle Pass, Texas. Public viewing is on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 12 Noon to 9 P.M. and on Sunday, April 9th, from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M. A service will be held in his honor on Sunday, April 9th, at 1 P.M. at Yeager-Barrera Mortuary and interment will be at 3 P.M. at the Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Many C. C. Winn High School teachers, staff, and students remember Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro as always having a big smile, friendly, always helping fellow students and friends, and wanting to make the world a better place to live in. He will be deeply missed and always remembered for his postive contributions to society and service to the United States through the United States Marine Corps. Rest in peace, Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro, also known as Lance Corporal Joseph Tesanee Bearclaw Yuyutsu.
