Eagle Pass Lady Eagles fall to McAllen High Lady Bulldogs in Bi-District Softball Championship

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Softball Team fell in two consecutive games, 8-7 and 4-3, to the McAllen High School Lady Bulldogs in the 2017 Texas U.I.L. Region IV, Class 6A Bi-District Championship during April 28-29, 2017 in Laredo, Texas, being eliminated from the state playoffs and ending their season with an overall record of 16-11.
GAME 1, Friday, April 28th
The Lady Eagles jumped to an early 6-0 lead in Game 1 against the McAllen High Lady Bulldogs and appeared to be on their way to a victory, but the feisty Lady Bulldogs battled back to score five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun the Lady Eagles and steal the game from under them by the close score of 8-7.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 series lead with the Game 1 victory over the Lady Eagles.
GAME 2, Saturday, April 29th
The Lady Eagles lost a heartbreaker in Game 2 by the score of 4-3 to the McAllen High Lady Bulldogs despite a valiant effort to reverse their fortune. The Lady Bulldogs swept the Lady Eagles 2-0 winning the Bi-District Championship.
The Lady Eagles enjoyed a great season finishing in third place in the highly competitive District 29-6A with an overall season record of 16-11. The Lady Eagles fielded a young team with only two seniors on the team and the majority of the remaining players being juniors, sophomores, and freshman. They should field a stronger team next year as both of their starting pitchers, Kaitlin Galvan and Leenette Krezdorn, are scheduled to return and good prospects from their junior varsity squad are expected to move up.
The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles include Heather Ruiz, Kayla Ochoa, Kaitlin Galvan, Leenette Krezdorn, Isabella Ruiz, Leslie Martinez, Karina Ruiz, Emily Snyder, Elena De Alba, Romy Flores, Brooke Diaz, Lorelei Morales, Leeann Dunn, and Alexandra Martinez.
The Lady Eagles are under the tutelage of Head Coach Oscar Ruiz and Assistant Coaches Ricky Ruiz, LarissaVenegas, Ernesto Reyes, and Julian Caballero.
