New Eagle Pass City Manager Arturo B. Rodriguez seeks to improve quality of life and services

After a nine-month long search for a permanent, full-time City Manager by the Eagle Pass, Texas City Council, San Benito, Texas Assistant City Manager Arturo B. Rodriguez was selected by the Eagle Pass City Council on January 3, 2017.
Rodriguez served as Assistant City Manager, Interim City Manager, Director of Human Resources, and Director of Civil Service and Public Safety for eight years with the City of San Benito, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, plus almost 32 years of federal executive management experience with several agencies, including the United States Treasury, Office of Internal Affairs under the United States Customs Commissioner in Washington, D. C., Criminal Investigations of Integrity and Corruption Concerns, Disciplinary Matters, National Security, International Border Matters and other duties involving the best interest of the United States. As a federal executive manager, Rodriguez had top Security Clearance with the United States Department of Homeland Security and United States Department of Justice.
Rodriguez officially commenced his new position as City Manager for the City of Eagle Pass on Monday, February 1, 2017 and presided over his first City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd.
After the February 2nd City Council meeting, Rodriguez gave the Eagle Pass Business Journal an interview and stated: “I want to thank the Mayor and City Council of Eagle Pass, Texas for the selection process and the opportunity to serve as your new City Manager. It is a great honor to become the City Manager of Eagle Pass, Texas. I wish to embrace this community of citizens and stakeholders with a promise of leadership with a will and wisdom to work together. I will lead the Office of City Manager with Professionalism, Honesty, and Integrity. I will approach daily needs and operations with clear goals in mind, striving to improve the quality of life and service for all citizens of Eagle Pass. I envision my promise with good will, hard work, and a commitment to excellence in service.”
Rodriguez brings strong management and leadership experience to Eagle Pass with a genuine goal of operating the City of Eagle Pass’s affairs with transparency and an open door policy.
Rodriguez has a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with Summa Cum Laude Honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration and Criminal Justice with Summa Cum Laude Honors.
As a result of his diverse experience with the City of San Benito and the United States government, Rodriguez has experience in Leadership, Management, Ethics, Human Resources, Strategic Organizational Development, Economic Development, Municipal Law, Municipal Civil Service, federal Civil Service and Laws, Public Administration, Finance Budget Strategy, Integrity, Strategic Problem Solving Leadership Development, Community Development Projects, and Municipal Government and Leadership.
Rodriguez is a member of the Texas City Management Association, Texas Human Resources Association, Texas Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials, American Society for Public Administration, Senior Executive Management Association, Project Management Institute, Economic Development Board, South Texas Emergency Care Foundation, and the Texas Southmost College Criminal Justice Institute.
Rodriguez is excited and looking forward to working with the Eagle Pass City Council, City Department Heads and Staff, citizens of Eagle Pass, and other local, state, and federal agencies in improving the quality of life and services for Eagle Pass, Texas.
