Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu announces bid for re-election

Eagle Pass, Texas Mayor Ramsey English Cantu announced on Monday, January 23, 2017, at a press conference held at the Eagle Pass City Hall that he is officially seeking re-election for another term as Mayor of Eagle Pass in the May 6, 2017 City Election.
Mayor Cantu registered with City Secretary Imelda B. Rodriguez during the January 23rd press conference.
Mayor Cantu was accompanied by his father, Raul Cantu, and sister, Kimberly Cantu, and many supporters during his registration and official announcement of his candidacy.
Mayor Cantu noted that he was first elected to the Eagle Pass City Council in 2006 and later as Mayor in 2010. He seeks re-election to be able to provide leadership to the community as well as complete important public projects currently underway such as the construction of the Eagle Pass Public Safety Headquarters and the Eagle Pass Public Library.
In addition to Mayor Cantu, City Councilmember Place 2 Rudy Villalpando has registered for re-election while City Councilmember Place 4 Luis E. Sifuentes has not registered for re-election.
The candidate registration period for the upcoming City of Eagle Pass May 6, 2017 Election for Mayor and City Council Places 2 and 4 remains open until February 17, 2017. Any citizen interested in registering for one of the three positions up for election in the May 6, 2017 City Election must pick up a copy of the candidate application with City Secretary Imelda B.
