Robinson, Casas & Farias elected to Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors

In a crowded field of eight candidates for the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors, Rebecca “Becky” Robinson, Jesus Casas, and J.M. “Chuco” Farias emerged as the top three vote getters to get elected or re-elected to the local Hospital District Board at the November 8, 2016 Election.
Retired education administrator and former school superintendent Rebecca “Becky” Robinson garnered the highest total number of votes, 4,185 (22.23%), while local Certified Public Accountant Jesus Casas received a total of 3,559 votes (18.90%) to place second and earn a Board position, and retired education administrator and incumbent MCHD Board member J.M. “Chuco” Farias placed third with 3,232 votes (17.17%) to win re-election on the Maverick County Hospital District Board.
Local attorney and MCHD Board member Ricardo “Rica” Calderon placed fourth with a total of 2,792 votes (14.83%) and barely missing re-election. United Medical Center Dr. David Land came in a close fifth place with 2,250 votes (11.95%) while retired educator Gravis Ray Bibb received 1,395 votes (7.41%) to place sixth, Dr. Maria L. Forth earned 874 votes (4.64%) to come in seventh, and Dr. James Galizia received 539 votes (2.86%) to round up the ballot at eighth place.
Current MCHD Board members not on the ballot this year are Vice-Chairperson Ronald Hixson and Adolfo “Fito” Olivares.
MCHD Board member Ricardo “Rica” Calderon stated he wanted to personally thank the voters of Maverick County for casting their ballots and electing three Board members. Calderon added that he has enjoyed serving the citizens of Maverick County during the past four years on the MCHD Board and working with the dedicated and outstanding physicians, staff, and administration at the local hospital district.
