Three Killed in Two Vehicle Accident on U.S. Highway 83 North in Eagle Ford Shale

A two vehicle head-on collision between a semi-trailer truck and an automobile on U.S. Highway 83 North near the Webb County and Dimmit County lines on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at approximately 11 a.m. caused the death of three persons in the Eagle Ford Shale region, announced the Texas Department of Transportation Public Relations Director Raul Leal.
A Laredo, Texas family of three identified as Richard Robinson, age 50, Veronica Robinson, age 40, and their daughter, Chelsea Robinson, age 8, were killed in this accident.
The driver of the semi-trailer truck, Juan Daniel Quintanilla, age 26, of San Diego, Texas, survived the accident and was airlifted by helicopter ambulance to a San Antonio, Texas medical center to receive medical emergency treatment.
The automobile accident occurred within five miles inside the Webb County line on U.S. Highway 83 North between Carrizo Springs and Laredo, Texas.
One of the automobiles burst into flames after the accident.
The accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The two vehicle accident caused U.S. Highway 83 North to be closed for several hours while emergency crews and state troopers investigated the accident.
No cause of the accident has been provided yet.
The accident occurred within the Eagle Ford Shale region which has seen a significant increase of fatality accidents during recent years.
