Five People killed in Eagle Ford Shale accident in Dimmit County

A four vehicle accident one mile north of Asherton, Texas on U.S. Highway 83 North on Thursday, January 15, 2015, has killed five people, announced Texas Department of a Transportation spokesperson Raul Leal of Laredo, Texas.
The four vehicles involved in the tragic fatal accident includes an 18 wheeler tractor trailer, two pick up trucks, and a Van.
The five people killed in the fiery accident are from Laredo, Texas, including Juan Francisco Medellin, age 65, Sergio Javier Veyro, age 50, Carlos Rubio, age 30, Edward Pena, age 22, and Justin Lara, age 21.
US Highway 83 North will be closed to traffic between Asherton and Carrizo Springs, Texas to allow the Texas Department of Safety to investigate the fatal accident and clear the accident debris.
The five people fatal accident occurred within the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas boom in Dimmit County. The Eagle Ford region has experienced a significant increase of accidents and fatalities since 2008.
Motorists traveling on US 83 North in a Dimmit County are requested to take the detour at FM 1557 and FM 190 East and vice-versa.
