Cerna Money Exchange Historic Exhibit to be held September 25th

The City of Eagle Pass Main Street Program and Eagle Pass Back in the Day are hosting a joint historical photographic celebratory tribute honoring Casa De Cambio Cerna, also known as Cerna Money Exchange, on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Eagle Pass Fort Duncan Museum located at 310 Bliss Street, in Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Jose Cruz, City of Eagle Pass Main Street Program Director.
Cerna Money Exchange has been a part of the Eagle Pass Downtown commercial scene for over eight decades continues to serve the community on a daily basis as an international money exchange at 189 Main Street, adjacent to the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 on Garrison Street.
Founded in the 1930s by Felix Cerna and his family, Cerna Money Exchange, continues to provide an important financial service to the Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico border and its residents.
Main Street Program Director Joe Cruz stated that it is important to recognize the dedication and contributions made by the historic downtown business pioneers such as Cerna Money Exchange. “I like to extend an invitation to the entire community to join us and journey through time with this historic downtown Eagle Pass treasure trove of photographs in honor of and to celebrate the contributions made by Casa de Cambio Cerna, also known as Cerna Money Exchange, which continues in operation after over 80 years of community service and business,” said Cruz.
Jeff Taylor of Eagle Pass Back in the Day stated that the Cerna Family and community members have contributed many priceless historic photographs of Cerna Money Exchange since its founding in downtown Eagle Pass on Commercial Street.
Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila historical fans and citizens are encouraged to attend this important historical photographic exhibition of Cerna Money Exchange.
Admission to the Cerna Money Exchange Historical Exhibit is free and open to the public.
