Drugs Found Inside Residence on Lariat Street
Maverick County deputies were dispatched to Lariat Street Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 AM in reference to a subject entering a residence with sacks possibly containing illegal narcotics. Deputies arrived to the address to find the front door open and proceeded to conduct a search of the residence for said subject. Upon concluding the search, two white and green feed sacks were located in the laundry room. Further investigation revealed the sacks contained a green leafy subject which tested positive for marijuana. A total of 119 pounds of marijuana were confiscated from the residence. This case remains under investigation.
Horse dies from apparent bee stings
On Saturday, April 27, 2014 at approximately 10:04 AM, deputies were dispatched to Lisa Blvd. in reference to a horse under attack by bees. Deputies arrived to make contact with the person who placed the initial report, who advised that the gray horse was seen running towards Columbino Road. The horse in question was eventually found in a state of distress near a residence on Columbino Road. Neighbors were able to hose the horse down with water. The horse, however, was later found deceased.
One Fatality in Rollover Accident
The driver of a white 1998 Ford Explorer is deceased after being involved in a rollover accident on Highway 481. Deputies responded to calls reporting an accident at approximately 5:00 PM on Friday, April 25th. near the entrance of Saner North Ranch. Upon arrival, deputies were able to make contact with the female passenger of the vehicle, identified as Lindsay Cardenas out of Uvalde, Texas, who advised agents that she was several months pregnant. Ms. Cardenas was transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Trinidad Ruiz III, a resident of Uvalde, Texas, was identified as the driver. Mr. Ruiz was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Jeannie Smith at 6:08 PM. The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over the investigation.
