United Medical Centers Inaugurates Third Community Health Center in Maverick County

United Medical Centers inaugurated its third Community Health Center (medical clinic) in Maverick County, and ninth overall in the Tri-County area of Maverick, Kinney, and Val Verde, on a beautiful, sunny day on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 4018 El Indio Highway, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Local banker and Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Board of Director Humberto Garza welcomed the over 200 persons and dignitaries in attendance at the grand opening of the new United Medical Centers health clinic on El Indio Highway in southern Eagle Pass and Maverick County as the official Master of Ceremony.
United Medical Centers Chief Executive Officer George Kypuros presented a brief history of UMC since its founding in 1973 as a pediatric clinic to today’s nine Community Health Centers in Maverick, Kinney, and Val Verde counties and introduced the Medical and professional staff at UMC in Eagle Pass. Kypuros acknowledged Isidro De Los Santos and his family for providing the new clinic’s real property at a discounted price to make it a reality.
Garza introduced the Board of Directors of the non-profit UMC, including Board President Ruben Carrillo, Jr., Socorro Hurley, Edelmira Martinez, Margarita Andrade, Helen Marie Jones, Maria J. Martinez, Jose De Luna, Gene Mireles, James Hoback, Frank Mendoza, and Dr. Hector Alvarez.
UMC’s medical director is Dr. Juan Saucedo. UMC’s medical staff includes Dr. David Land, Dr. Alberto Aguayo, Dr. Gerardo Astudillo, Dr. Danny Almaguer, Dr. Daniel J. Chartrand, Dr. Roberto Duran, Dr. Andrew Faniku, Dr. James A. Fowler, Dr. Gene Haveriah, Dr. Lee T. Keenen, Dr. Aurelio Laing, Dr. Palani S. Mani, Dr. Robert Marquinez, Dr. Angel Martinez, Dr. Manjula Mittal, Dr. Tamara Moseley, Dr. R. Nwanna, Dr. Wendy Pitt, Dr. Chapin Smith, Dr. John Tiffee, Dr. Gloria Yanez, Dr. Gaston I. Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu congratulated UMC on their third health clinic in the City of Eagle Pass and its dedicated service and commitment to providing affordable health care services to Eagle Pass residents.
Keynote speaker was Dr. Juan Chavira, formerly of Eagle Pass, who praised UMC for bringing health care services to the citizens of Maverick County and the significance of UMC opening a third Community Health Clinic for the benefit of local citizens.
The official ribbon-cutting was done by the UMC Board of Directors and Executive Management team. The new clinic manager is Humberto Duran.
Also present was UMC’s Chief Operations Officer Teresa C. Kypuros, Chief Financial Officer Rafael Olvera, and Grant Writer Mario Pola.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were provided guided tours of the new 4018 El Indio Highway medial clinic and refreshments.
