Mexican gasoline and convenience store business known as “Oxxo” has announced its plans to open a retail store in downtown Eagle Pass, Texas at the intersections of Commercial and Rio Grande Streets, announced Juan De Vere, Oxxo company representative in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
De Vere announced that this will be the first retail store in the United States for the Mexican company and they are looking forward to opening in downtown Eagle Pass.
City of Eagle Pass Downtown Coordinator Joe Cruz confirmed Oxxo’s plans to build and open a retail store at the busy downtown Eagle Pass intersection of Commercial and Rio Grande Streets.
The Eagle Pass “Oxxo” retail store will be an experiment for the Mexican-owned company and its investors to determine the need and acceptance of its retail concept and menu among United States customers, many of whom are familiar with their brand-name “Oxxo” stores along the U.S.-Mexico border.
De Vere stated that if the Eagle Pass “Oxxo” store is successful, the company plans to build future stores in the United States, particularly along the U.S.-Mexico border. De Vere added that “Oxxo” has been planning for several years its entry into the United States market and Eagle Pass is the perfect location for its first store since consumers are very familiar with “Oxxo” stores in Mexico.
The proposed “Oxxo” store in Eagle Pass would be located only one block from the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 on Garrison Street and at the entrance of the Ryan Street Flea Market on the banks of the Rio Grande River.
