An Eagle Pass man, Enrique Villarreal, received the scare of his life when his Gray Pontiac G6 four door automobile sedan rollover several times after he fell asleep at the wheel at approximately 3:52 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 while driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 277 East from Eagle Pass, Texas to Carrizo Springs, Texas. The one vehicle accident occurred at mile marker 620 of U.S. Highway 277 East within Maverick County, Texas.
Villarreal was traveling to Carrizo Springs to go to work in an Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas business when he sustained the one vehicle rollover accident. Maverick County Sheriff Department Deputies responded to the 911 telephone call. Villarreal was examined at the scene of the accident by the Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS and was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment of his injuries.
When Maverick County Sheriff Department Deputies arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the Pontiac G6 four door sedan upside down on its roof. Miraculously, Villarreal did not perish in this serious rollover accident. Many Eagle Passans have died on this stretch of U.S. Highway 277 East between Eagle Pass and Carrizo Springs, particularly within the last three to four years as the Eagle Ford Shale boom has drawn many Maverick Countians to seek work in Dimmit County and surrounding areas.
The accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
