Adriana E. Martinez receives Doctor of Philosophy at University of Oregon

Eagle Passan Adriana “Didi” Elizabeth Martinez received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Geography from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon on June 17, 2013. Adriana Elizabeth Martinez is the daughter of Cesar and Juanita V. Martinez of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Adriana Elizabeth Martinez was accompanied by her parents, sister, Alejandra Olivia Martinez, and friends at her Commencement ceremony on June 17th held at the Memorial Quadrangle at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Martinez is a graduate of Eagle Pass High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University-College Station. She also received a Master’s degree from Texas A & M University-College Station.
Martinez’s dissertation was entitled “The Geomorphic Effects of Native and Invasive Riparian Vegetation: Sprague River, Oregon.” Her dissertation advisor was Dr. Patricia McDowell.
Following the Commencement ceremony on June 17th, the graduates and their families and guests enjoyed a reception at the Luv Hog Restaurant.
Dr. Adriana Elizabeth Martinez is now an Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Her proud parents, Cesar and Juanita V. Martinez, and sister, Alejandra Olivia Martinez, honored Adriana Elizabeth Martinez with a graduation celebration on July 12th at the Four Seasons Hall in Eagle Pass, Texas. Many family members, friends, and well-wishers congratulated Dr. Adriana Elizabeth Martinez on her prestigious accomplishment and degree. Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu commended Dr. Adriana Elizabeth Martinez on her educational success and wished her the best in her future endeavors. Mayor Cantu cited Dr. Adriana Elizabeth Martinez as an exemplary Eagle Pass citizen who is making valuable contributions to society and education.
