Maverick County Inmate commits suicide
On June 14, 2012, at approximately 11:53 a.m., Correctional Officers found an inmate by the name of Juan Luis Reyes DOB: 3/26/71, in a cell, who had hung himself using a piece of a blanket. Correctional Officers immediately performed C.P.R. and requested an ambulance. Jail Personnel continued performing CPR until the ambulance arrived. Mr. Reyes was transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center as EMS personnel attempted to resuscitate Mr. Reyes. The ambulance arrived at the E.R. at approximately at 12:22 p.m.
Mr. Juan Luis Reyes was pronounced deceased at 12:34 p.m. by the attending Physician at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center. Juan Luis Reyes had been transported to the Tom Bowles Detention on a Capias for Aggravated Assault by the Eagle Pass Police Department, and was in custody since June 6th, 2012, pending his case.
Mr. Reyes left behind a letter for his family which will not be disclosed until the family has had time to read it and they give authorization.
The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Investigators will be investigating the case along with the Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers Service.
