Motor Vehicle Accident at intersection of Loop 480 and U.S. Highway 277 East

On Friday 4-13-2012, at approximately 8:14 am, Maverick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Loop 480 and U.S. Highway 277 East in references to a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival, deputies noticed a red in color KIA four door vehicle facing east on the side of U.S. Highway 277 with damages to the left side. Also noticed a tractor trailer (belly dump trailer) parked approximately 200 yards away from the KIA vehicle. Deputies also requested Eagle Pass EMS to the scene in reference to the accident. Driver and passenger of the red KIA were identified as Elsa Diaz Gonzalez (Driver) and passenger Diana Diaz Gonzalez and both were transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as Julio Cesar Chavarria who stated that he was traveling on U.S. Highway 277 East when he noticed the red in color KIA four door not stopping at the intersection, causing him to strike the vehicle and dragging the KIA vehicle approximately 100 yards onto the side of the highway. D.P.S. troopers were at the scene at the time of report and took over the motor vehicle accident.
