Eagle Ford Shale Oil and Gas Exploration fuels growth in Middle Rio Grande Region
The Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas exploration boom throughout South Texas is fueling growth in the Middle Rio Grande region.
In Carrizo Sprigns, Texas and Dimmit County, over 50 oil and gas companies have opened offices and operations to service the booming Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas play. The City of Carrizo Springs population has skyrocketed during the past year as more than 24 recreational vehicle and mobile home parks have opened within a year to provide housing to the large workforce which has invaded the community. “Our Dimmit County Chamber of Commerce members are excited and pleased with the economic development and significant growth being experienced by our community due to the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas play,” Paula Seydel, Executive Director of the Dimmit County Chamber of Commerce, said. “We’re growing so fast that we haven’t had the time to go visit and meet all the new businesses opening in town,” Seydel added.
Other Middle Rio Grande region counties such as La Salle County and Zavala County are also experiencing a significant increase of economic development and growth due to the current oil and gas boom.
Eagle Pass and Maverick County are also seeing a spike in business attributed to the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas play. Eagle Pass motels and hotels occupancy rates have skyrocketed, providing housing for oil and gas workers working in the Middle Rio Grande region.

Oil and gas pipeline construction has significantly increased in order to deliver the newly produced oil and gas to market. Oil and gas is also being delivered by trucks and railroad.”We are always looking for quality people to work for us,” Steve Quinn of 3S Service Company.
The oil and gas boom to South Texas has also brought many new jobs previously unavailable. Oil and gas companies are desperately recruiting new workers to satisfy their new oil and gas construction and development contracts.
From the oil and gas exploration company to the oil and gas well service company, all of them need hard-working and dependable employees to handle their increased labor demands. Oil and gas companies are holding job fairs around the region, including Eagle Pass, Carrizo Springs and Uvalde.
