18 Wheeler Tractor Trailer Load Catches Fire on U.S. Highway 277 North in Maverick County, Texas

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department reports an 18 Wheeler Tractor Trailer’s load caught on fire while traveling on United States 277 North Highway in Maverick County, Texas near the Maverick County and Kinney County line on Friday, March 9, 2018.
The complete load on board the 18 Wheeler Tractor Trailer was burned and declared a total loss. The fire is believed to have been caused by a tire blowout or other unknown cause.
Trafffic between Eagle Pass, Texas and Del Rio, Texas was slowed down to only one lane while the Tractor Trailer burned and the Eagle Pass Fire Department extinguished the blaze on the Trailer. Travelers are advised to take extra time when traveling between Eagle Pass and Del Rio due to the incident. The burnt out Trailer is being towed by a large heavy duty towing truck so that U.S. 277 North highway can be fully opened to its two lane travel capacity.
The 18 Wheeler Tractor Trailer was traveling from Laredo, Texas to the State of California. U.S. 277 North highway is expected to be cleared by mid-morning on Friday, March 9th.
