Eagle Pass Police Department Crime Report
Friday, May 5, 2017, 12:25pm: Eagle Pass Police Officers responded to a report of a theft at a store located within the 1600 block of South Veterans Boulevard. The responding officer was informed that the suspect had left the store and was at another location within the 2200 block of El Indio Highway. Officers located the vehicle and the driver and upon attempting to speak with the driver he fled in a white Chrysler 300 initiating a brief pursuit by officers. The driver stopped his vehicle behind a business on El Indio Highway and fled on foot where he was caught by responding officers and arrested. 33 year old Jose Gilberto Chaves was later presented before a magistrate and formally charged with evading arrest in a Vehicle and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $7000 bond.
Sunday, May 7, 2017, 2:42am: Eagle Pass Police Officers Were involved in a brief pursuit of a GMC pickup after and officer arrived at a convenience store within the 1900 block of South Veterans Boulevard and was informed by the clerk of a theft by the driver of the pickup had just occurred as the officer was arriving. The officer made an attempt to stop the vehicle in the parking area of the store but the driver fled traveling West on El Indio Highway. Officers pursued the vehicle which came to a stop at the intersection of Bibb Street and El Indio Highway. The driver, 35 year old Rogelio Espinoza was placed under arrest and later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest in a vehicle. Espinoza was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $7000 bond.
Sunday, May 7, 2017, 8:50pm: The Eagle Pass Police Department received a report of a theft of numerous political signs. The investigating officer was provided with a photo of a vehicle involved in the theft of the signs and a computer inquiry of the license plates provided an address. The suspect later arrived at the police department and informed the investigating officer that he had indeed taken the signs presuming that they were no longer needed. The suspect, 72 year old Enrique Ramirez Serrano was placed under arrest for theft as the complainant wished to file formal charges. Serrano was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with theft of property and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $4000 bond.
