Eagle Pass Winn Lady Mavericks Softball face Flour Bluff Lady Hornets in Bi-District Championship

The Eagle Pass C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks Softball Team will face the Flour Bluff High School Lady Hornets in the 2017 Texas U.I.L. Softball 5A Region IV Bi-District Championship during Friday and Saturday, April 28-29, 2017, at Jourdanton High School Softball Field in Jourdanton, Texas, announced Winn Lady Mavericks Head Coach J.J. Iracheta.
The Winn Lady Mavericks will host the Flour Bluff Lady Hornets for Game 1 of a best of three series on Friday, April 28th, at 7 P.M. at Jourdanton, Texas and Game 2 will be played on Saturday, April 29th, at 12 Noon in Jourdanton, and, if necessary, Game 3 will follow 30 minutes after Game 2 also in Jourdanton.
The Lady Mavericks are the Runner-Up Champions in District 29-5A and sport an overall season record of 16-13 and 7-3 in District 29-5A action. The Lady Hornets finished in third place in District 30-5A within the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Area.
Lady Mavericks Head Coach J.J. Iracheta will call upon his pitching trio of MaryChelo Flores (8-5), Connie Hernandez (5-5), and Ariana Soto (2-0) to silence the potent Lady Hornets batters during the best of three series.
Offensively, the Lady Mavericks will rely upon standout shortstop and lead off hitter Cassandra Flores (.543 BA), Martha Garcia (.458 BA), Briana Soto (.420 BA), Anissa Garcia (.400 BA), MaryChelo Flores (.343 BA), YaYa Martinez (.339 BA), Ariana Soto (.333 BA), K. Amaya (.333 BA), Daniela Rodriguez (.250 BA), Connie Hernandez (.214 BA), and Jazmin Ballones (.158 BA). The Lady Mavericks have a .354 overall team batting average.
Assistant Coaches for the Lady Mavericks include Heriberto Roiz, Tony Martinez, Corina Escontrias, and Johnny Hernandez.
