Prisoners Riot at Kinney County Detention Center

Kinney County Sheriff’s Department reports a prison riot at the County-owned but privately managed Kinney County Detention Center in Brackettville, Texas at approximately 6:45 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

The Kinney County prison facility houses up to 400 U.S. Marshal’s Service federal pre-trial prisoners awaiting trial or sentencing in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, in Del Rio, Texas.

The KCDC is managed by the private prison management company Community Education Centers for Kinney County, Texas.

As of press time, no injuries have been reported.
