United Medical Centers Board of Directors terminate CEO George Kypuros and Medical Director Dr. Juan Saucedo

The United Medical Centers Board of Directors terminated Chief Executive Officer George Kypuros and Medical Director Dr. Juan Saucedo on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at a Board meeting held in Eagle Pass, Texas, according to community sources.
The UMC Board of Directors had previously placed CEO George Kypuros and Medical Director Dr. Juan Saucedo on paid administrative leave pending an administrative review.
Longtime UMC executive Mario Pola was named Interim CEO by the Board.
Attempts by the Eagle Pass Business Journal to reach UMC Interim CEO Mario Pola and Board President Jose M. De Luna, III, for comments were unsuccessful as they did not return this publication’s telephone calls.
CEO Kypuros had been with the United Medical Centers since its founding in 1973 and had been its CEO for over 35 years.
The UMC Board is comprised of 11 members, most of whom are patients of UMC, and are under the leadership of Jose M. De Luna, III, of Eagle Pass, Texas. Other Board members include Helen Marie Jones, Gene Mireles, Frank Mendoza, Celestino Hernandez, Stephanie Alsup, Dr. Hector Alvarez, Margarita Andrade, Francisco Martinez, III, James Hoback, and Maria J. Martinez.
UMC is a private non-profit corporation whose purpose is to provide basic primary and preventive health care services to residents within Maverick, Kinney, and Val Verde counties. UMC is an accredited Community Health Care Center in Texas. UMC receives partial funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Texas State Department of Health Services, and the Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc.
The UMC operates nine health care service sites in three Texas counties including Maverick County (Eagle Pass), Kinney County (Brackettville), and Val Verde County (Del Rio).
