Dimmit County Man murders two children and commits suicide

A Carrizo Springs, Dimmit County, Texas man, Andy Briseno, age 35, murdered his two minor children, Andy, Jr., age 15, and Andira, age 13, and then set his mobile home on fire and committed suicide on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at approximately 2 P.M., announced the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department.
Dimmit County Fire Department personnel who rushed to the burning mobile home to put out the blaze discovered the tragedy by finding the bodies of the children and father inside the debris of the mobile home.
Preliminary investigation reports allege that Briseno committed the murder of his two minor children, started the fire inside his mobile home, and turned the gun on himself committing suicide.
The children’s mother was working at the time the tragedy occurred and was spared her life. The family is well-known in Carrizo Springs. Briseno was a reserve peace officer in Dimmit County, according to preliminary reports.
The community of Carrizo Springs and Dimmit County were stunned and in disbelief of the tragedy uncovered by its Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department.
The murder suicide case is under investigation by the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Rangers.
