A United States Border Patrol Agent, Esteban Manzanares, age 32, allegedly raped three undocumented women from Honduras, an adult and two 14 year old girls, while on duty on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Abram, Texas, near McAllen in Hidalgo County, Texas, and later committed suicide.
Border Patrol agents encountered an undocumented woman who told them that she and her daughter had been raped and assaulted by a man together with another young girl. The assailant, later identified as Border Patrol agent Manzanares, raped the mother and daughter and attempted to kill them leaving them for dead in the brush while kidnapping and gagging the other 14 year old Honduran girl and taking her to his apartment.
Manzanares allegedly tied up and gagged the 14 year old girl and left her in his apartment while he returned to work to finish his shift. When he returned from work, Manzanares allegedly raped and assaulted the undocumented 14 year old Honduran girl in his apartment and later committed suicide by gunshot.
When investigating Border Patrol agents arrived at Manzanares’ apartment, they found the undocumented 14 year old Honduran girl tied, gagged, and bound inside and the lifeless body of Manzanares with a gunshot wound.
This tragic and bizarre case is being investigated by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department, and the Mission Police Department.
